Loss of libido in women or reduced interest in sex can result from a combination of the lack of creative energy, and a general depletion in energy associated with the lower part of your body. If your total body energy is low you probably will have little interest in activities such as sex that require large amounts or expenditures of energy. If the heart blood and vital energy are full and balanced then sexual desire will also be abundant.
The heart plays an important part in sexual arousal and achieving orgasm in women. The arousal of the (physiological) Minister Fire of the kidneys will warm the heart giving a flushed face and increased heart rate. If the Minister Fire is deficient and therefore kidney yang depleted a women will have a low sex drive. During orgasm, the Minister Fire that was rising during arousal is suddenly directed downwards towards the genitalia by the heart energy. Therefore if the heart Qi is weak and unable to descend then a woman will be unable to reach an orgasm.
In Western terms sexual arousal in both men and women require local vasodilatation and sensory nerve stimulation. Increased blood flow to the genital area will result in increased warmth, vaginal secretions and sensitivity.
